The Grundfos SQFlex Africa range offers an alternative solution for powering submersible water pumps using sun (and/or wind) energy.
The system is ideally suited for use in remote locations where other sources of electrical power are absent or unreliable. The SQFlex has a wide range of applications, and the Solar, Wind and Combi solutions can be used to solve individual water problems and improve daily life.
Solar powered pumps available from Grundfos are driven directly from the energy obtained from solar panels. They operate on either 30-300 V DC (Direct Current) or 90-240 V AC (Alternating current) and require no invertor. This is possible due to the variable speed capacity of the pumps. Their unique design enables them to have a back up power supply from a generator, battery bank, utility grid or a combination of these sources
The SQF submersible pump is very flexible with regard to its energy supply and performance, and has been designed for intermittent or continuous operation. The system can be combined and adapted to any need according to the conditions on site.
International Projects
The SQFlex solar powered pumps are particularly popular in countries in Africa. The system produces its own electricity via the sun/wind therefore it is beneficial to remote villages, compounds, properties or buildings not connected to a main power supply or where the power supply is unreliable. No additional fuels are needed to power the submersible pump, therefore, after initial installation the cost of running the system and producing the power is relative low.
